More Places to Visit in (or near) Naga City

Whether you’re looking for fun and adventure in the city, in the islands, or way up in the highlands, Bicol has a great deal to offer.

Naga City is considered as one of the oldest Spanish royal cities. As such, it offers tourists with unparalleled culture and diversity. In Cam Sur, you’ll find a broad range of natural and man-made attractions that anyone afflicted with wanderlust must visit at least once in his/her lifetime.  Among these fascinations are the ancient churches from the Spanish era, the immaculate islands, and the exotic waterfalls.

This is a continuation of our previous post: Places to Visit in Naga City or Places to Visit Near Naga City.

The Plaza Quince Martires is a monument nestled in the bosom of the city. It was built during the American period as a tribute to the 15 Bicolano martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country during the Spanish colonial period.

Proudly made of brick and stone, the Peñafrancia Shrine is the old home of the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. (It now resides in the Basilica Minore). Apart from its aesthetic appeal, the church itself possesses such a rich and captivating history.

When traveling to Naga City, indulging the taste buds is just as important as indulging your sense of sight! Moraville Restaurant’s Eat All You Can Buffet offers authentic Bicolano dishes such as laing, puto at dinuguan, and Bicol express. The great thing about the Moraville Restaurant buffet is that it comes complete with drinks and dessert! Have your fill of free-flowing fruit juice and go crazy over the maja blanca (a real crowd-pleaser).

Finding Your Way Around Naga City

You can get around Naga City by taxi (same rate as in Manila), tricycle, or jeepney (also 8php).

Of course, the most convenient solution would be to book accommodations located right in the heart of Naga City. Luckily, Moraville Hotel and Restaurant is situated right in the center of the bustling metro, within walking distance to and from restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, convenience stores, souvenir shops, and the Naga City public market. Public transportation is easily accessible to and from the hotel. Finding Your Way Around Cam Sur

Want to explore the rest of the province? You can easily get around Cam Sur by taking jeepneys or vans (air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned).

malabsay falls

Mt. Isarog Natural Park is a great place to visit if you want to try waterfalls rappelling or if you just want to breathe in some fresh air.

How to Get There:

Mt. Isarog Natural Park is only a 30-40 minute jeepney ride away from Moraville Hotel and Restaurant. Alternatively, you may hire a taxi. From the drop-off point, you have to take a 1.5 km hike (approximately half an hour) to reach the entrance of Mt. Isarog Natural Park. The key is to enjoy the hike! Then, take photos of the lovely Nabontolan falls. Take a cool selfie (or a dip) by the neighboring Malabsay Falls. (see previous blog post)

A little too daring? You can always relax and just immerse yourself in the soothing waters of Panicuason Hot Spring Resort in Carolina.

Want to chase more waterfalls?

Conquer your fears and allow expert (and licensed!) guides to assist you in achieving that awesome adrenaline rush as you bravely hurl yourself off the Itbog falls in Buhi or the Nalata falls in Bula.

How to get to Bula:

Take a jeepney to Bula. The ride will take roughly 1 and a half hour from Naga City. From the parking area, expect a 15-minute hike through concrete stairs under bamboo groves. There you’ll discover the foot of the waterfall. According to natives, on the right side of the waterfall, you’ll find a cave entrance leading to another village.

Check out the Twin falls, the Slide falls, and the Shower falls. These falls in Pili is not only a place of interest for waterfall rappelling junkies but also for tourists interested in history. There you’ll also find wartime tunnels and a Japanese memorial.

What’s next? Admit it. You sooo want to visit Cam Sur! So book a ticket, book a room at Moraville, and get ready to fall in love with Cam Sur.

In our next post, we’ll explore the wonders of Camarines Norte! So stay tuned!

Places to Visit in (or near) Naga City

Places to Visit in (or near) Naga City

caramoan islands

It’s summer again! Time to escape to paradise and get those oh-so-fashionable tan lines. The urban setting has its numerous appeals, I’ll grant you that.  But come summer, there’s nothing more wonderful than the feeling of the sun on your face and the sand between your toes. And may we be so bold as to say that this time of the year belongs to Naga City. 😉

If you’re looking for places to visit in Naga City or places to visit near Naga City, you’ve come to the right place! Cam Sur has a lot to offer whether you’re a nature lover, an adventure junkie, or a hopeless romantic planning a glorious getaway.

There are a lot of awesome tourist spots in the Philippines but Cam Sur is where you can actually be one with nature at its full, raw, least altered majesty. The locals are friendly, the beaches less crowded, and the food is great.  Moraville Restaurant’s Eat All You Can Buffet features authentic Bicolano dishes from laing to Bicol express!

IMHO, the following are some of the best places to visit in Naga City/ best places to visit near Naga City.

caramoan

  • Caramoan

This is perhaps one of the most popular places to visit near Naga City.

From Naga City, drive to Sabang Port. This drive will take you 1 hour and 30 minutes. You have to wake up really early to catch the passenger boat which will take you to Guijalo Port. The first trip is at 5:30 in the morning and the last trip is at 1 o’clock pm. Take note that there’s a boat that sails every hour. The boat ride is pretty cheap and it will take you a couple of hours to get to Caramoan.

Of course, you’ll have to do some pre-planning regarding your accommodations/island-hopping packages in Caramoan. All the islands are unique and beautiful in their own way but I highly recommend Matukad Island. The quality of the beach is fine, white, and powdery. If this isn’t heaven, what is?

Other islands to explore:

Lahos Island

Honongan beach

Basud beach

Manlawi Sandbar (another personal favorite)

Cotivas Island

Bag-ing beach

Sabitang Laya

Gota beach

The Caramoan islands are exceptional because apart from the immaculate waters, you get to marvel at the gorgeous rock formations. But perhaps the true appeal of Caramoan is that it’s devoid of large-scale developments and thus, it’s able to retain its unspoiled state.

Whichever you choose to visit, you’ll want to look for an accommodation in Naga City.

Whether you’re a solo traveler or travelling as a family, Moraville Hotel and Restaurant can provide you with rooms that are comfortable and affordable, perfect for budget travelers.

Moraville Hotel and Restaurant is right at the heart of Naga City, within walking distance from drug stores, restaurants and fast foods, convenience stores, and grocery stores. So if you need to grab some sunscreen, food, umbrellas, swimsuit, or whatever it is that you need before going off on your island adventure, you can easily get it.

Moraville Hotel and Restaurant is also one tricycle ride away (5 minutes) from SM Naga City and the bus station. Its strategic location provides you with easy access to various modes of public transportation.

Travelling to Naga City by plane? Don’t worry, we’ll pick you up. Moraville Hotel and Restaurant offers free shuttle service from the Pili Airport to the hotel and vice versa!

aguirangan

  • Aguirangan

If you’re a little pressed for time (or energy or budget) or if you just want a whole-day swim as opposed to an overnight excursion, then we suggest the Aguirangan Island.

Found along the Lagonoy Gulf, the Aguirangan Island is a 1.5 hectare of immaculate beach surrounded by crystal waters. If you choose to visit Caramoan, you’ll see this along the way. Because of the shorter boat ride, this is more ideal if you got kids traveling with you.

Just don’t expect hotels and restaurants and bathrooms! In fact, you won’t find any stores on the island. The Aguirangan Island continues to be one of the best places to visit in Naga City/ places to visit near Naga City because it enables you to enjoy the island at its virgin state. So if you’re game, feel free to bring your portable cooker, your own baon, and do ihaw-ihaw on the island.

Another wonderful thing about this island is that you’ll get an awesome view of the perfect cone-shaped Mayon Volcano on a sunny day. This is also one of the best-known diving spots in Cam Sur.

If you live outside Bicol and plan to see only the Aguirangan Island, then you should definitely seek accommodation in Naga City.

If you’re traveling to Naga City by car, check in at Moraville Motorlodge where you can get a safe parking space for your vehicle and a comfortable and affordable room for yourself.

  • Panicuason Hot Spring Resort

If you’re not so keen on the idea of an island adventure or if you’re travelling with kids or elders, then you may wish to visit the Hot Spring Resort in Panicuason instead. It’s just a 30 minutes ride away from Naga City.

There are lots of cool places to visit in Naga City/ places to visit near Naga City but this local gem is right on top of the list. The place has improved a great deal over the years and now it attracts adventure junkies with its wall climbing, rappelling, and 200 meters and 100 meters zip line. During the exhilarating ride, you’ll get to enjoy a wonderful view of Mt. Isarog in its wild tropical perfection.

The natural warm water heals the body but the lush green surroundings purify the soul. It’s a really great place to bond with nature and the entrance fee is cheap as chips.

This is a great place to visit with your family. Contact Moraville Hotel and Restaurant to know more about budget-friendly family rooms.

malabsay falls

  • Malabsay Falls

Fancy hiking to Malabsay falls? If you’re a nature lover thirsting for cool water and soothing green vistas, check this place out. Located at the foot of Mt. Isarog, this local treasure is certainly one of the places to visit in Naga City/ places to visit near Naga City.
If you’re a solo traveler, contact Moraville Hotel and Restaurant to know more about budget-friendly single rooms.

This tourist attraction is roughly 40 minutes away from Moraville Hotel and Restaurant.

cwc

  • CWC

If you want to engage in water sports or maybe just go for a dip, one of the recommended places to visit in Naga City/ places to visit near Naga City is the Camarines Sur Watersports Complex. It’s ideal for tourists of all ages and especially popular among wakeboarders!

Like most famous tourist attractions in Naga City, this man-made attraction is only a few minutes ride away from Moraville Hotel and Restaurant.

Book your ticket, make your reservations, and don’t forget your sunscreen. You know where you need to be this summer! 😉

How to Get Married in Naga City : Civil Ceremony

IMG_0175.JPG
How to Get Married in Naga City
If you’re wondering about how to get married in Naga City then you’ve come to the right place!

Perhaps you’ve read out recent post about 100 Reasons to Get Married. If not, then you should definitely check it out. The points mentioned there will enable you to look at marriage in a more positive perspective.

Naga City is wonderful place to tie the knot in due to its perfect blend of urban luxury and rural charm. If you’re a Nagueño, then getting hitched in your hometown is a perfect way to pay homage to your roots. Getting married in Naga City will help you ensure that you’re surrounded with supportive loved ones during your special day.

If you’re not originally from here, then you still might want to consider getting married in Naga City or even eloping here! 😉 Why? For one thing, the city has an impressive collection of old and very charming churches.
That said, not everyone who’s willing to take the plunge is ready for an elaborate church ceremony. There are several factors that can discourage couples from tying the knot such as lack of budget and lack of time/energy for planning.

If you don’t want to go through all that hassle, here’s a perfectly agreeable alternative: Have a civil wedding ceremony in Naga City!
You might want to look for a hotel and restaurant which can make planning a wedding in Naga City a whole lot easier for you. Moraville Hotel and Restaurant takes care of everything from the banquet to the cake, from the table setting to the sounds and lighting, from the bridal car to the romantic accommodation.

IMG_0018
So, what does it take to plan a civil wedding ceremony in Naga City?
The first step to getting married in Naga city is to obtain parental advice (if you and your spouse-to-be are both of marriageable age) or parental consent (if either you or your hubby/wifey-to-be are aged 18 – 21 years).
The latter would require your folks to put their consent in writing and also to appear personally at the civil registrar.

Meanwhile, the former needs to be in written form and attached to your marriage license application along with a sworn statement from you and your fiancé/fiancée stating that you’ve sought the advice.

The next step for getting married in Naga City is to obtain a marriage license. This is issued by the city registrar and would require you and your spouse-to-be to file separate application forms there.

Don’t forget to bring along with you original/certified true copies of your birth certificates!

After that, the local civil registrar will create a notice with your complete names and addresses to be posted for ten days on their bulletin board where everyone can see it. This will allow any impediment to your union to be made known. After this, your marriage license will be issued.
The third step for getting married in Naga City is to pick your wedding dates (if you haven’t already).

Then, schedule an appointment with the judge/authority who will perform the ceremony. This is also the perfect time to plan the after-party and reserve accommodations in Naga City especially if you have guests from out of town.
When you get married in Naga City the ceremony should be done in public in the judge’s chambers or in an open court.

The great thing about a civil wedding ceremony in Naga City is that you’re sure to be free from programs or scripts. The most important thing is that you and your partner promise to love, honor, and be with each other for the rest of your lives.
And finally, the last step for getting married in Naga City: the party!
Moraville Hotel and Restaurant offers a selection of wedding packages to suit every budget and theme.
